How To Specify A Header Row In Google Docs
Adding a header row to a spreadsheet allows you to quickly identify the types of data your spreadsheet is sorting. To distinguish each cell in a header row from the rest of the column’s cells, change the background color, add borders, and change the font. If you made your spreadsheet in Google Docs, you can “freeze” the header row to keep it as the top row as you scroll down the spreadsheet.
1 In Google Drive, open the spreadsheet whose header row you want to change.
2 Make any changes to the header row that you want. You might want to change the font face, weight, and color to make it stand out as the header row. You might also want to change the background color of the cells to make them stand out from the others.
3 Select any cell in the header row by clicking it.

Print Header Rows In Google Sheets
Another great feature of having frozen rows in your Google sheets is that you can have them printed at the top of each page in addition to being useful when navigating through each of your Google sheets.
Having this information will assist anyone who is reading your reports as they sift through the pages, trying to remember what each label for your data set represents. Click on File, then Print, then open the Headers & footers item on the sidebar, and ensure that the checkbox labeled Repeat frozen rows is selected in the Row & column headers section labeled Repeat frozen rows when printing your data.
The header row will then be repeated at the top of each page of the document you are about to print in the preview area of the document you are about to print.
Completely Frozen Screen
If you want to play a joke on your friends by preventing them from even scrolling up and down on their current active sheet, place the cursor well below the row depth of the currently active screen. Let’s say you’re on row 100. When you are finished, select the option “Up to current row (100)” from the View > Freeze menu.
It is possible to confirm that everything has been frozen by placing your mouse cursor over the active sheet area and attempting to scroll the sheet up or down with your mouse button. Even if you use the arrow keys on your keyboard to move your active cell, you will be unable to change the position of the active screen from the 100 frozen row view.

Remove Frozen Rows
The quickest and most straightforward method of removing a frozen row in Google Sheets is to select View from the menu bar, then select the Freeze sub-menu item, and then select the option labeled “No rows.” When you click on this button, any frozen rows in your active sheet will be automatically removed from the sheet.
You can also use your mouse to accomplish the same task. Hover your mouse cursor over the thick grey line anywhere on your sheet, then when your cursor changes from a pointer to a hand, simply click and drag the thick grey line up until it reaches the top of the sheet again.
