If you’ve received messages from other iPhone users that include small images, you might be wondering how they did it. To your advantage, learning how to add the Emoji keyboard to your iPhone 5 is only a few simple steps away…
When you need to type in a text message, an email, or a Web browser on your iPhone 5, the keyboard that appears includes nearly every character that you might need to express your thoughts in your home language.
While text messages containing image characters known as emoji are rare, you may have seen or received them. These characters allow you to express emotions solely through the use of a single special character, as opposed to using multiple characters.
However, while they are particularly popular among young people, Emojis can be used by anyone who owns an iPhone in a variety of ways. Follow the instructions in the following paragraphs to begin using the emoji symbols on your iPhone 5.
For those who want to personalize their iPhone 5 while also providing some additional protection, the selection of iPhone 5 cases available on Amazon is a great option.

How To Get Emojis On An iPhone 5 In IOS 10
In iOS 10 and newer versions of iOS, such as iOS 14, the steps for adding the Emoji keyboard are nearly identical, but the screens and menus look slightly different. If your iPhone looks different than what is shown above, you can check it out below.
Step 1: Go to the Settings menu.
Step 2: Select General from the drop-down menu.
Step 3: Go to the bottom of the page and tap Keyboard.
Step 4: At the top of the screen, tap Keyboards.
Step 5: Click the button that says “Add New Keyboard.”
Step 6:Select Emoji from the drop-down menu.
Replace Words With Emoji
The Messages app displays words that you can replace with emojis when you send a message.
Messages should be open, and the Compose button should be tapped to begin a new message or return to an existing conversation.
After you’ve written your message, press the Emoji button or the globe Next Keyboard button on your keyboard to send it. Wait for the words to turn orange before continuing.
To replace a word with an emoji, tap on the orange word. If there are multiple emojis that you can use, the Quick Reply field displays a list of options for you to choose from. To send a message, press the Send button on your keyboard.
You can replace the emoji with the original word by tapping the emoji once more.
Use Predictive Emoji
With Predictive text, you can write and complete entire sentences with a single tap on your screen. It appears as you type that you have a selection of words and phrases that you could type next, based on your previous conversations and writing style. You’ll also see some emoji suggestions that you might find useful. Then write your message and look for the suggested emoji in the predictive input field, then tap it to replace a word or to add an emoji to your message.
The Emoji button or the globe Next Keyboard button must be held down in order to turn off Predictive text. Then select Keyboard Settings and toggle off Predictive text.
